Everything is Eternal Change

When leaves change colors, when pears and apples ripen, when the sky darkens earlier and evening air has a crisp scent, we know that the season of fall is here. Houseplants are taken indoors and seasonal plants succumb to the frost. Many animals look for warmer lairs and some birds migrate south. Lawn furniture is stored, movers are put away and the last of the summer garden is harvested. With all this occurring around us, there is little doubt that a season of change is upon us.

As participants, many of us look forward to the change in seasons. Living in the Midwest, I enjoy the four seasons and almost set my clock by the arrival of certain perennials and birds in the spring, the fireflies in the summer, the sound of crickets chirping in the fall, and the first snowfall in early winter. These are things we anticipate because they remind us of the normalcy and expectancy of change in the seasons.

All change, however, is not welcomed. A move out of state, a missing pet or a loss of a friend or mentor can cause changes that are dreaded rather than anticipated. But change is inevitable and needs to be understood as an opportunity for growth and development. Stagnant feeling and surroundings do little to nurture one's spirit. Change by its nature causes a person to step outside of their comfort zone and spiritually stretch to new heights.

“Change is the only constant in life. Ones ability to adapt to those changes will determine your success in life.”
— Benjamin Franklin
So, change can bring hope or hurt initially, but in the process of change beneficial growth can occur. When change impacts you, why not ask yourself what this process now frees you up to do. What gifts are hidden in the change? How can you embrace it and grow beyond your own limitations? These are the diamonds in the rough that can be mined for our future benefit. Prospect in our own backyard and uncover these gems. They just might be priceless.

Strange also is the fact that only one thing is permanent in this universe- eternal change. Nothing remains exactly the same for even a second. Even the physical body in which we live changes completely with astonishing rapidity. You can test these statements against your own experience.

"Change is hard at first messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end." -Robin Sharma
When a person is struggling for recognition and to get a few dollars ahead, seldom will he find anyone to give him a needed lift. But once the makes the grade- and no longer needs help- people stand in line to offer him aid. Through what I call the law of attraction, like attracts like in all circumstances. Success attracts greater success. Failure attracts more failure. Throughout our lives we are the beneficiaries or victims of a swiftly flowing stream which carries us onward toward either success or failure.

The idea is to get on the "Success Beam" rather than on the "Failure Beam." How can you do this? Simple. The answer lies in adopting a positive attitude that will help you shape the course of your own destiny rather than drifting along at the mercy of life's adversities.
